Shannon Nicole Braziel will receive her Master of Arts Degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technology University (TTU) on August 6, 2005. She plans to continue teaching in the Hamilton County School system in Chattanooga, Tennessee while attending TTU to pursue her Education Specialist Degree. Shannon is the daughter of Virginia Braziel of Morristown, Tennessee and William (Sam) Braziel of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Wallace A. Coleman has been designated a 2005 Ohio Heritage Fellow. This is an annual award from the Ohio Arts Council to individuals whose achievements have had a positive impact on the excellence, vitality and public appreciation of folk and traditional arts in Ohio. Wallace’s designation for this honor named him as one of Ohio’s artistic treasures. Wallace was born and raised in Morristown, TN but moved to Cleveland, Ohio in his early 20’s. He is a self-taught harmonica player; a talent he learned by listening to the music he loved. His professional career has included touring with Robert Lockwood and invitations to perform at major U.S. festivals and overseas –most recently in Belgium this May 2005. Wallace started his own Pinto Blue Music label and has recorded three CD’s which feature many of his own compositions. * * * * * The Awards Committee for International Society for Hypertension in Blacks ISHIB2005 has selected Dr. Priscilla Treece-Johnson from numerous nominees to receive the ISHIB Outstanding Community Service Award for 2005. This award is presented annually to an individual or organization that has demonstrated outstanding community service and dedication to reducing health disparities in ethnic minority populations. In recognition of her achievements, ISHIB will honor Dr. Treece-Johnson during the Opening and Awards Ceremony at ISHIB2005. The ceremony will take place July 15, 2005 at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Uan, Puerto Rico.
