Songfest - Scholarship Fundraiser
The 4th annual fundraiser for the Reunion of the Ages
James A. Nichols Scholarship was held on Saturday, May 7, 2011
at Jefferson Middle School in Jefferson City, TN.
The audience was welcomed by Ms. Joan Hendricks
and the program MC was Ms. Flora Nance. Soloists and groups
of singers from surrounding communities sang spiritual music
that was enjoyed by all in attendance. Due to other events
planned in the area for the same time, the attendance was sparse.
The event Chairs, Delphine Blevins and Joan Hendricks, expressed
a desire to have more support at the next event. They feel that
students who have benefited from scholarships in the past should
feel an obligation to support future events by attendance and/or
donations. The song fest is the primary fund raiser for the
Reunion of the Ages James A. Nichols Scholarship Fund which
benefits high school graduates that have been accepted to
institutions of higher learning. Scholarship amounts average
$500 each.
A special thank you from the event Chairs to those who
took the time to participate in this year’s program; both new comers
and those who are always willing to give their support.
Donations of any amount are needed, welcomed and
appreciated. At last report, this year’s songfest raised $840.00.
